FAQ
WHAT IS AN IMPROV JAM?
An improv jam is a fun opportunity to perform improv scenes for strangers and with strangers. Improv jams are the "Open Mic" nights of improv comedy that give every attendee an opportunity to hone their improv performance skills absolutely free.
Improv Jams can be arranged in a variety formats. The Radical Projects hosts jams by having participating attendees add their names to slips of paper that are then randomly selected to choose people for 2 person scenes, signature short form games and even 8 person short improv sets. Depending on attendance, participants may get the chance to perform more than once, but everyone is guaranteed at least 5 minutes of stage time.
WHY AN IMPROV JAM?
Half of what makes improv so difficult are nerves. A common saying among improvisers is that a show is worth 5 performances. That's because the nerves you feel during a performance will leave you battle tested and the next time you improvise in class or practice it won't be half as anxiety producing. That's why improv jams are valuable to newer improvisers.
Jams also offer players a chance to meet each other and find new people to play and practice with.
WILL THERE BE AN AUDIENCE?
Yes, but not much of one and most of the people there will probably be performing themselves.
IS THERE A FEE?
No! Our improv jams are absolutely free to anyone and there are no hidden fees, like drink minimums either.
